Lighting webcast: Designing a holistic lighting system
1 AIA CES approved LU available for attendees upon successful completion of the exam
Codes, standards and research require lighting engineers to consider daylighting, high-quality lighting products, controls and commissioning in lighting designs to achieve a holistic design that meets the needs of the building occupants. Requirements for lighting become more complex with each edition of the energy conservation codes.
Codes and standards include ASHRAE Standard 90.1: Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and California Title 24. This webcast will summarize the codes and standards that apply to lighting systems, controls and human-centric design.
- Summarize the codes and standards that apply to lighting systems.
- Illustrate the steps for designing a lighting system that meet the building occupants’ needs.
- Identify lighting strategies to improve energy efficiency/reduce energy consumption in buildings.
- Better understand holistic, visual comfort and human-centric lighting design techniques.
