Dynamic UPS systems: How kinetic energy can protect sensitive processes and equipment

Attendees qualify for a Certificate of Completion.
In this session, electrical engineers will be introduced to the basic principles of a dynamic uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system and the key benefits of the technology.
Dynamic UPS systems provide conditioned electrical power to mission critical consumers. In normal operating mode, i.e., when the public power grid is available, a choke — an electromagnetic coil — is used to eliminate current and voltage fluctuations that the power grid tends to produce. These voltage fluctuations are frequent but are not perceived by “normal” consumers.
Today’s sophisticated electrical, power and information technology systems are increasingly sensitive, and a power grid fluctuation can cause their function to be perturbed. When that happens in hospitals, data centers or factories that run very sensitive production processes, the consequences can be dramatic, and involve huge financial losses.
Using real-life installations from around the world, engineers will see specific scenarios where dynamic UPS is used to protect critical logistics, sensitive manufacturing and mission critical operations.
Learning objectives:
- Gain overview of dynamic uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
- Understand the benefits of the dynamic UPS technology.
- Review various applications where dynamic UPS systems are used.
- Explore examples of successful installations from around the world.
