Back to basics: Microgrids and integrated power solutions
ATTENDEES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.
This course offers a comprehensive introduction to microgrids and the integrated solutions that define the evolving energy landscape. Participants will gain insights into the diverse array of distributed energy resources, including synchronous generator sets, photovoltaic panels, inverters, energy storage systems and emerging technologies.
Through engaging discussions and real-world examples, learners will explore how these resources can be effectively combined within a microgrid framework to enhance resiliency, reduce carbon footprints and lower operational costs for building clients.
Additionally, the course will cover key challenges and strategies for successful integration, providing a holistic understanding of microgrid design and implementation. By the end of the course, attendees will be equipped with foundational knowledge to navigate the complexities of microgrid systems and contribute to sustainable energy solutions.
Learning objectives:
- Define microgrids and identify common microgrid components.
- Describe the evolving energy landscape within the United States and the factors that impact site selection including economic, operational and environmental factors.
- List the key functionalities and purpose of microgrid controls.
