1. Protecting standby generators for mission critical facilities

The generator and standby power systems for mission critical facilities require a higher level of reliability and availability.

2. Data center design: HVAC systems

In the information age, data centers are one of the most critical components of a facility. If the data center isn’t reliable, business can’t be done. This reviews data center cooling and HVAC systems.

3. Webcast: HVAC for Data Centers

The focus of this webcast is to present high level topics on data center energy use and efficiency. Items related to developing highly efficient cooling strategies based on data center type and location, to calculating inefficiencies in electrical systems and the resulting impact on the cooling system energy use will be explored. The topics are essential for any mechanical engineer designing data center cooling systems and providing energy analysis.

4. What’s new in ASHRAE 90.1-2013

Nearly 150 addenda were proposed for ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2013. The changes in ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2013 are not as radical as the changes made in 2010, which reduced the energy consumption of minimally compliant designs by approximately 30% compared to 90.1-2004. But while the 2013 edition does not result in as large a drop in energy use as was seen three years ago, the changes in this latest version still are significant.

5. Weekly merger, acquisition, deal update: March 14

This week Morrissey Goodale reported three deals in the United States and three international deals involving Canada, Australia, Switzerland, and South Africa.
