Providing architects with weekly project updates allows for more efficiency onsite and saves time and stress so they can focus on their numerous additional priorities. In an ongoing series, tips and insights are shared and aimed at helping the next generation of engineers grow and excel within the industry.

Because architects are oftentimes required to take the lead on other tasks outside of their own architectural design workload—including coordinating the needs of the project with various subconsultants (mechanical, engineering, plumbing, structural, civil, technology, fire protection, etc.) and keeping track of ongoing projects and submissions—engineers should keep in mind that their architectural client is incredibly busy.

Providing architects with weekly project updates allows for more efficiency onsite and saves time and stress so they can focus on their numerous additional priorities. A proactive update will ensure project requirements and any changes are being communicated in a timely manner to every team member. A quick update can help streamline the process and keep everyone on track, ensuring the project runs smoothly.

"RTM is in the process of developing a project management database that will allow each engineer to track every project task and run reports that can be sent to clients," said RTM Principal Mitesh Smart, PE. "These reports will help communicate to the client where RTM is in the design process and reassure them that our team is diligently working on their project, building confidence and ideally taking some of that workload off their plate."
