New Products for Fire and Life Safety

10/04/2006

Fire vents are designed to maximize fire containment by removing smoke, heat and gases from a burning building. Suited for large unobstructed spaces, such as factories, warehouses, retails stores and convention centers, the devices are intended to increase evacuation time and decrease risk of smoke inhalation and damage. Emergency evacuation system has been approved for controlling smoke throughout a building structure per the new ninth edition of UL code 864. The system can now be installed to work in conjunction with non-dedicated HVAC equipment to form a system for controlling the flow of smoke in a building, using fans, ducts and dampers. Training CD offers continuing education for consultants and specifiers who are seeking training and certification on linear heat detection (LHD), low- and high-pressure aspirating smoke detection, and linear leak detection systems. Each month, a new technology training module is added. The first training module in the series focuses on the design, installation and service of LHD systems. Specification writing tool has been upgraded to version 1.01, allowing system engineers and specifiers to create custom fire alarm specifications for the manufacturer’s fire-alarm control panels. The new version lets users select from a wide variety of panel options and equipment in a “point and click” manner. For more about KnightSpec from Silent Knight, click here .
