Industry Roundup: AERCO and Alpha honored; Automated Logic and Extreme CCTV make acquisitions


• AERCO International, Northvale, N.J., has been awarded the U.S. Commerce Dept.’s Export Achievement Certificate. The award is presented to businesses that have benefited from the department’s commercial service export assistance to make their first export sale or open new foreign markets.

• Alpha Technologies, Bellingham, Wash., reports that its chairman and founder’s namesake building, The Fred Kaiser Building, was recognized in a recent survey entitled “The Greater Vancouver GreenGuide.”

• Automated Logic Corp., Kennesaw, Ga., a unit of United Technologies Corp. and subsidiary of Carrier, has acquired the business of Control Solutions, Inc., Chicago (CSIC), an ALC dealer serving the greater Chicago marketplace.

• Bosch Security Systems, Fairport, N.Y., announced that its senior fire product manager, Jack McNamara, recently received two industry appointments: He has been named chairman of the National Electrical Manufacturing Assn. (NEMA) Signaling, Protection and Communication Product Group; he has also joined the board of directors of the Automatic Fire Alarm Assn. (AFAA).

• Extreme CCTV, Vancouver, B.C., manufacturer of active-infrared surveillance equipment, is acquiring Forward Vision CCTV Ltd., a U.K. designer, developer and manufacturer of intelligent mechanical PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) cameras.

• Ferraz Shawmut, Newburyport, Mass., announced that Stephen Colvin has been appointed vice president of marketing. Colvin previously spent 14 years at ABB, most recently as director of product management.

• Heat Transfer Products, East Freetown, Mass., announced the appointment of David R. Martin as the company’s president.

• Siemens Building Technologies, Buffalo Grove, Ill., has joined the Controls Group North America consortium of HVAC/R wholesale controls distributors to provide high quality HVAC control components and strengthen the independent wholesaler.

ABB Automation Products, Low-Voltage Drives, New Berlin, Wis., has named Michael Mikolajczak as product line manager.

• State Industries, Ashland City, Tenn., announced that its cofounder, water heater industry pioneer John R. Lindahl, Sr., passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2006.
