Industry Roundup: BAC relocates R&D; JCI to Acquire Remaining Interest in Detcon

• Baltimore Aircoil Company, Baltimore, recently completed relocation to its new 95,000-sq.-ft. research and development laboratory and global headquarters building in Jessup, Md.

• Johnson Controls, Milwaukee, plans to purchase the remaining interest in its Argentinean joint venture, Detcon S.A., a provider of integrated building automation, fire, life safety and security systems based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

• Hoffman, Anoka, Minn., a Pentair subsidiary, intends to purchase certain assets of APW Ltd., including McLean Midwest , Electronic Solutions, and Aspen Motion Technologies, Inc. This announcement strengthens Hoffman Enclosures by adding critical thermal management solutions for manufacturing, packaging, material handling, processing, data communications, networking and electrical industries to Pentair’s Enclosures Group. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2005.

• Siemens Building Technologies, Zurich, Switzerland, has signed an agreement to acquire Bewator, a major European manufacturer and supplier of access security systems. SBT will establish Bewator as a “Global Centre of Competence” for access control products.

• Parker Hannifin, Cleveland, Ohio, has acquired Kenmore International, a manufacturer and distributor of components for global refrigeration and air conditioning markets, from Lai Berg Holding, AS of Norway. The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks once final regulatory approval is received.

• Emerson Network Power, Columbus, Ohio, has completed the acquisition of Mountain View, Calif.-based Cooligy, Inc, a developer and manufacturer of active cooling technology for microprocessors and other heat-generating components.
