Girard Engineering names principals

Girard Engineering has named David Schaeffer and Susan Sheridan as principals with the firm.

Girard Engineering has announced the promotion of David Schaeffer, PE, LEED AP, RCCD and Susan Sheridan, LEED AP, to principals with the firm.

David Schaeffer, PE, LEED AP, RCCD, joined Girard Engineering in 1992 and has nearly 25 years of experience in engineering electrical systems for a variety of projects, including commercial, corporate, government, higher education, laboratory, and civic buildings. Skilled in the design of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and telecommunications infrastructure, he has been instrumental in keeping Girard Engineering on the leading edge of technology.

Schaeffer has served as a project manager and engineer for many new construction and historic renovation projects in the Mid-Atlantic, and is currently overseeing engineering services for the new U.S. Coast Guard headquarters on the West Campus of St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. Other major projects include the award-winning Richmond CenterStage performing arts complex in downtown Richmond and Torgersen Hall at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Schaeffer is a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering.

Susan Sheridan, LEED AP, joined Girard Engineering in 1986 and has provided project management and mechanical engineering services for a diverse range of base building and tenant projects, including new construction and renovation design for government, commercial, corporate, law firm, and multi-family residential development clients. Sheridan’s recent projects include the new 12-story office building at 1000 Connecticut Avenue, NW; the Fried Frank law offices; and a new academic center and dormitory for New York University (NYU DC), all in Washington, D.C.
