  • Baltimore-based A/E RTKL has been granted broad patent protection rights by the U.S. Patent and Trademark office for the "Tower of Cool," a data-center cooling device that was written about in the January issue (see CSE 01/02, p. 36).

  • Designs have been finished by SmithGroup , Detroit, for the new corporate headquarters of Visteon Corporation in western Wayne County, Mich. The firm's plans include a "village" of civic, commercial, residential and industrial facilities, with sustainable and advanced technology identified as a key principles of the building-system design for the 800,000 to 1 million sq. ft. facility.

  • Carter & Burgess , the A/E firm based in Ft. Worth, Texas, has been chosen to receive an award by the Ft. Worth Chamber of Commerce. The annual Spirit of Enterprise award recognizes the firm's contribution to the appearance and environment of the city.
