ESD promotes four to senior vice president

Environmental Systems Design (ESD) has promoted Daniel Michaud, Sunny Puri, Michael Kern, and Joe Geyer to senior vice presidents.

ESD (Environmental Systems Design Inc.), has promoted Daniel Michaud, Sunny Puri, Michael Kern, and Joe Geyer to senior vice presidents.

Michaud leads ESD’s Technology Systems business unit, which provides design and consulting services for a wide range of technology systems used in commercial spaces. Prior to joining ESD, he gained industry experience as a consulting engineer and project manager with a network integration company, a local electrical and low voltage contractor, and a major computer equipment provider. A specialist in the intelligent buildings field, Mr. Michaud has been a guest speaker at various events, most recently with his presentation on “The Road to Convergence” for the healthcare industry. He is a graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering.

Puri has spent his entire career with ESD, joining the firm as a communication technologies engineer in 1997. He was made a senior associate in 2003 and a vice president in 2006. He has considerable experience in the design and commissioning of data centers, disaster recovery centers, electronic trading floors, healthcare and industrial facilities and has performed detailed reliability and availability analysis for such facilities. A Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional, Mr. Puri received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Northern Illinois University. He is a member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).

Kern has been responsible for the development of the firm’s human resources department. He has a strong background in the areas of compensation and performance management programs, benefits design and management, recruiting, international human resources management, employment law, reorganization, merger and acquisition HR management, employee relations and policy development. Recognized for the programs he has implemented at ESD, Mr. Kern has been sought as a speaker for national engineering and human resources conferences. Mr. Kern received a bachelor of science degree in economics and philosophy from Boston College and a J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. He serves as director of the board of the Chicago Engineers Foundation.

Geyer joined ESD in 2004 after two decades in construction services. A CPA, he has progressed from his role as controller to his current position as ESD’s senior vice president of finance. He is a member of the firm’s Leadership Team and is a member of the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). Mr. Geyer holds an MBA from the Keller School of Management and a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Illinois State University.
