Courtesy: Johnson ControlsYork YD model "C" dual compressor centrifugal chillers from Johnson Controls feature Optispeed variable speed drives (VSD) and a capacity range of 1,500 to 6,000 tons (5,300 to 21,000 kW). The unit-mounted low-voltage and floor-mounted medium-range VSD are designed to optimize the chiller and improve efficiency. At AHRI conditions (460 V/60 Hz), the YD model "C" provides up to 3,000 tons (10,550 kW) of cooling. It uses two York centrifugal compressors operating in parallel on a common set of heat-exchanger shells to obtain large chill capacities. The YD model is designed for retrofit applications, district cooling, hospitals, and higher education facilities.
