Compact modular ring lug terminals replace barrier blocks

Phoenix Contact open-style ring screw (RSC) and ring bolt (RBO) lug connection terminals are designed to replace traditional barrier blocks.

Available in 9 and 13 mm profiles, the Phoenix Contact RSC/RBO family is smaller than most barrier blocks, the company said. The compact size increases density within the control cabinet. Unlike barrier blocks, modular RSC and RBO terminals are available in  panel-mount or DIN rail-mount packages.

The series supports feed-through connections, disconnects and current transformer (CT) shorting within switchgear and control system applications. Used primarily in the energy/electrical power utility industry, current transformers measure current and monitor the operation of the power grid.

When current in a circuit is too high to directly apply to test or measuring instruments, a CT reduces the current proportional to the current in the circuit. Once the current is reduced, the RSC and RBO terminals can be used to short the CT secondary circuit to enable test and measurement of the circuit thereby allowing users to avoid a system outage while mitigating hazards to both equipment and personnel.

Polyamide material used in RSC and RBO terminals meets flammability class V0 per UL 94. They are UL recognized at 600 V with a range of electrical current ratings from 30 A to 45 A. Accessories include FB connection rails for power distribution, plastic touch-safe covers for operator safety, rugged end brackets and markers for increased visibility and identification.
