Engineers Week, a formal coalition of more than 75 engineering, professional and technical societies and more than 50 corporations and government agencies, takes place this year Feb. 18 to Feb. 24. Founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers, the program is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce.

The newly created New Resource Bank, San Francisco, offers lower interest rates and generous loan terms to developers and owners who invest in green building projects. The bank will provide a 1/8th percent (0.125%) discount on loans to commercial or multifamily residential projects seeking certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED rating program.

Minneapolis-based Honeywell has been awarded a contract with the Pleasanton Unified School District in the San Francisco Bay Area for a solar energy project that is projected to save the district $2.5 million over the next 20 years. Honeywell will install, own and maintain the PV panels on seven of the district buildings, and then sell the electricity to the district.
