ASHRAE Publishes Standard 90.1 Addenda

Providing more guidance with the design of energy-efficient buildings, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers recently approved 18 addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings.

Providing more guidance with the design of energy-efficient buildings, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers recently approved 18 addenda to ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings .

In brief, the addenda cover a number of topics including building envelope, HVAC zoning criteria, damper leakage, the use of cold air systems, part-load fan power, balancing of air and water systems and lighting.

"Our main priority is finding ways to both simplify the requirements and achieve greater energy cost savings for the next published standard in 2004," said Lawrence Spielvogel, chair of the Standard 90.1 committee.
