AMCA revises laboratory accreditation program

The Air Movement and Control Assn. Intl. recently revised publication 111-99, Laboratory Accreditation Program Manual. The latest revision to AMCA 111 allows a laboratory to be able to accredit their lab for testing in accordance with AMCA 260.


The Air Movement and Control Assn. Intl., Arlington Heights, Ill., recently revised publication 111-99, Laboratory Accreditation Program Manual. The latest revision to AMCA 111 allows a laboratory to be able to accredit their lab for testing in accordance with AMCA 260. AMCA 260 is the laboratory method of testing induced flow fans for rating.

An AMCA-accredited laboratory is one that has been accredited in accordance with the AMCA Publication 111 Laboratory Accreditation Program. An accredited laboratory may be owned and operated by a certified ratings licensee or by and independent individual or organization.

The association’s laboratory located at AMCA Headquarters in Arlington Heights, Ill., and other independent accredited laboratories may be designated as an AMCA Laboratory by the AMCA Board of Directors for the purposes of performing pre-certification tests, check tests and challenge tests under AMCA’s Certified Ratings Program.

AMCA International’s laboratory holds the distinction of one of a limited number of laboratories approved for testing under California Energy Commission’s new regulations. More specifically, AMCA has been approved to test residential exhaust fans and whole house fans using test method HVI 916.

Additionally, the AMCA laboratory has fulfilled the requirements, and has been accredited by ISO/IEC 17025:2005, meeting both the technical competence requirements and management system requirements that are necessary to consistently deliver technically valid test results and calibrations.
