2018 40 Under 40: Kyle DelPiano, LEED AP; 36

Business Development Manager, Xylem Inc., Raleigh, N.C.

BS polymer and fiber engineering, Auburn University

Kyle DelPiano, LEED AP; 36DelPiano is business development manager for Xylem’s Americas Commercial Team. He has worked at the firm since 2014 and was promoted to this position in October 2017 from his previous role as Southeast market development manager. Working closely with senior management, he’s helping to develop a strategic direction for the company in the commercial building services market and for Xylem legacy brands, such as Bell & Gossett. Another priority in his new position is leading the renovation of Bell & Gossett’s legendary Little Red Schoolhouse (LRSH), where industry professionals have been learning the basics of hydronic system design since 1954. DelPiano believes the LRSH modernization will be a great asset in continuing to provide engineers and others the knowledge and flexibility to properly apply hydronic system design in various applications. Every Saturday, more than 1,450 brown-bag lunches are prepared and distributed to the homeless and the less fortunate in Raleigh, N.C., through the Brown Bag Ministry program at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church where DelPiano is a member. In his personal life, he enjoys family time with his wife and daughters. He’s an occasional golfer and a die-hard foodie who enjoys cooking at home as well as discovering great new restaurants. He is an accomplished brewer—his home-built system is capable of producing 150 gallons of beer annually. Through his Bow-tie Brewery label, he’s created different versions of stouts, German ALTs, IPAs, and pale ales that he’s entered in local and regional competitions. DelPiano has also served as a consultant to a local brewery in Raleigh.
