Kim Wall, LEED GA; 33Wall is a senior electrical designer with Interface Engineering in Portland, Ore. Since joining the firm in 2012, she has had the opportunity to design systems both domestically and internationally. Her strengths include power distribution, BIM, technology, energy-efficient lighting and lighting controls, and emergency power/lighting systems. She excels at collaborating with architects, other engineers, and owners during the design process. Her background in architectural engineering gives her insight into how other building systems work together, the impact on the electrical system, and collaborating on solutions. She strives to provide timely and thoughtful information for all her designs. Wall aims to meet all the owner’s requirements while incorporating inventive and efficient strategies. She has emerged as a young leader in the electrical department. Due to her positive attitude and work ethic, she has had the opportunity to work on several types of projects including large retail, mixed-use, challenging renovations in the education sector, and past government work. She has applied her interest in energy conservation and sustainable design to her work on several LEED projects. Multiple projects that she has worked on have received the American Institute of Architects’ Better Brick Awards. In 2017, Wall developed a STEM outreach program that partnered Interface with a local middle school to promote STEM education and careers. The program includes monthly events at the school, which alternate between small group lunch-buddy meetings and in-class engineering activities. In her spare time, she is an avid music fan. She enjoys attending concerts and seeking out vinyl records for her collection. She also is a fan of the outdoors and spending time exploring the Pacific Northwest with her dog, Murphy.
