Pavel Likhonin, PE, CEM; 32Likhonin is a client manager, project manager, and senior mechanical engineer in the Raleigh, N.C., office of Dewberry. He joined the firm in 2010 and has assumed steadily increasing responsibilities in the design and management of major building systems and engineering projects. He has worked on projects throughout the U.S., focusing primarily on the health care and education markets. In 2014, he became an assistant mechanical department manager, then quickly became a full department manager by the summer of 2015. A year later, he took on the full-time role of client manager for several clients he had developed during his career. Likhonin has performed energy audits with calibrated energy models, submitted multiple projects for U.S. Green Building Council LEED certification, and designed energy-efficient mechanical systems for new construction projects, facility additions, and modernizations. He is a frequent speaker on energy-efficient HVAC design. Since joining Dewberry, he has demonstrated a strong proficiency in energy modeling, engineering design, and retro-commissioning mechanical/HVAC systems, as well as project management. His manager describes him as an “engineer’s engineer” and “a creative, solutions-oriented professional with an incredible work ethic.” Likhonin is active in ASHRAE, is a member of the national ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.6 Health Care HVAC, and regularly attends the S-170 Committee on Ventilation in Health Care. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Saida, and his two-year-old son. They enjoy hiking and visiting family around the country. Originally from Kazakhstan, Likhonin moved to the U.S. in 1996 and has traveled extensively. He also has maintained a long-time interest in working with cars and motorcycles. He is a co-founder of AutoMicroFarm, an innovative automated farm system for gardeners that features open-source aquaponics.
