Josh Srago, CTS; 35As an audio/video (AV) design engineer, Srago focuses on education and the global view of integrating technology. His diverse background allows him to understand the perspective of the end user, manufacturer, integrator, and each party involved in a project. This well-rounded knowledge enables him to be an effective consultant, serve as editor-in-chief for AVNation, and develop into a leader within the AV industry. Srago started as an onsite technician for venues, worked as the consultant liaison and training manager for a manufacturer, spent several years doing engineering for an integration firm, and is now ensconced as an AV design engineer at TEECOM, a technological engineering and consulting firm in California. His career path has exposed him to diverse perspectives, and as a result, he’s become an informed proponent for breaking down the silos between owners, manufacturers, consultants, and integrators. As a member of InfoComm, Srago serves on the organization’s international certification steering committee, which oversees the development and administration of the certified technology specialist (CTS) programs and ensures the credentials meet high standards of ethical and professional practice for the AV industry. He is well-known for his authoritative opinion on regulatory and technical policies that affect the AV industry. Musical theater has played a role in Srago’s life since he was 4 years old. It inspired him to learn bass guitar, perform in his high school band, and graduate into pit orchestras as an adult. He partakes of rare whiskeys of the world. Every year, he attends the Whiskies of the World Expo, where distillers share their finest spirits with fellow whiskey enthusiasts. As far as preferences go, some of his favorites are Irish whiskey, sherry cask Scotch whisky, and American rye whiskey.
