Principal, Project Manager, Affiliated Engineers Inc., Madison, Wis.

BS Mechanical Engineering, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale

Jason Atkisson, PE, HBDP, NCEES, 40Atkisson joined the Madison office of Affiliated Engineers Inc. (AEI) in the summer of 2012. He started as a lead mechanical engineer/project manager working on highly complex projects for Mayo Clinic, the University of Chicago, the University of Wisconsin, and the University of Minnesota. In 2015, AEI assigned him as a comparative newcomer to the leadership role of the mechanical department in the Madison office, historically a hard-earned, coming-up-through-the-ranks position. Prior to joining AEI, he was a senior project manager and director of mechanical engineering at Ross & Baruzzini in St. Louis. Atkisson’s recent project management roles have included the University of Chicago’s William Eckhardt Research Center, the University of Kansas Central District Development, and multiple projects for the University of Wisconsin system. He advocates for the highest professional, intellectual, and personal standards and demonstrates that he first holds himself accountable to them. Within the past 4 years, Atkisson’s standout performance in project work has taken him from lead mechanical engineer to project manager to principal. Outside of work at AEI, he continues his involvement in ASHRAE with technical committee memberships including TC 6.1: Hydronic & Steam Heating Equipment & Systems (chair), TC 7.1: Integrated Building Design, TC 9.7: Education Facilities, and TC 9.10: Laboratory Systems. Atkisson is resuming work with Habitat for Humanity after a break of several years, supporting the organization of AEI’s 2017 recruitment and planning drive. He enjoys spending time playing video games with his two boys and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers. In addition, he participates in recreational sports leagues, specifically volleyball, softball, and kickball. And for relaxation, he engages in fixing things around the house.
