Gayle Davis, PE, CxA, 32

Project Manager, Stanley Consultants, Austin, Texas

BS Mechanical Engineering, South Dakota State University, Brookings

Davis joined Stanley Consultants’ Minneapolis office in 2008 as a college graduate and quickly made a name for himself as a go-getter, prompting the office manager to begin offering services in ground-source heat pumps and then commissioning. After 4 years of apprenticeship, he relocated to the company’s Austin office, passed the exam to become a licensed professional engineer, and was promoted to project manager in 2013. Davis has been a project manager for 4 years. When the company recently transitioned to a new vision resources planning system, he quickly became known as the subject matter expert in his office. He welcomed the new technology because it helps him better track budget and resource information to keep projects on task and within budget, reducing gross margin erosion. Davis is one of just three CxAs within Stanley Consultants and the only Certified GeoExchange Designer. Always one to be working toward the next goal and adding to his skill set, his next objective is to receive Project Management Professional certification. As the ASHRAE Austin Chapter student activities chair, for 2 years Davis has recruited volunteers and organized K-12 and collegiate classroom visits, museum tours, science fairs, hands-on activities, and mentorships. Minor home improvement projects, reading sci-fi novels, and spending time with family top Davis’ list of favorite activities. He is a young father who delights in the antics of his boys. They play hide-and-seek and tug of war as well as enjoy roughhousing, having backyard camping adventures, and fishing at the community regional park.
