Gabriel Millican, PE, LEED AP, HFDP; 33Millican is president of Buckeye, Ariz.-based Millican Engineering. After spending time at a nationally renowned architecture/engineering firm in Phoenix and then as principal engineer at a local consulting firm, he started the firm in 2016. The company has expertise in a wide array of project types including industrial, health care, food service, hospitality, commercial, and custom residential. He is one of a handful of engineers in Arizona to become certified by ASHRAE as a health care facility design professional, validating his years of health care experience. In 2009, he obtained his U.S. Green Building Council LEED AP certification and has since been involved with more than a dozen LEED-certified projects. Contributing to the community has always been a priority for Millican and his family. He currently is chairman of the Maricopa County Building Code advisory board and recently finished his term as co-chair of the United Dairymen of Arizona, Young Cooperators. He is past membership promotion chair of the Central Phoenix ASHRAE chapter. For 3 years, Millican and his family have traveled to Puerto Penasco, Mexico, as part of a church mission team. During this outreach mission, the team builds homes for those in need. In addition, he is involved with Feed My Starving Children. This organization uses volunteers to mix, bag, and ship millions of meals a year. Millican enjoys sharing his love of tinkering with his children, which offers a great way to teach kids how to follow instructions, spatial perception, and the fun of engineering. He is thrilled that his oldest child is at the perfect age to begin building Legos. While on the road traveling for his company, he loves to listen to audiobooks.
