Dina Hoerth, PE, LEED AP, CDT; 36

Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineer, Environmental Systems Design Inc. (ESD), Chicago

BS Mechanical Engineering, MS Biomedical Engineering, University of Wisconsin, Madison

Since joining ESD in 2007, Hoerth’s responsibilities have included mechanical system design and project management. She has been involved in various market sectors including commercial, health care, and food service, with a primary focus on health care. She takes a hands-on approach and makes sure all decisions are made in a collaborative manner. She has close relationships with the project managers and facilities teams at the buildings with which she works and serves as their trusted advisor to develop solutions that best meet their objectives. Often serving as a project manager, Hoerth shows leadership skills to inspire her team. During her career, she has been involved in numerous health care projects including the design of operating rooms, clean labs, and complicated imaging spaces, such as linear accelerators, MRIs, and CT scanners. Recently, she has been pursuing a focus on medical gas system design. Hoerth is involved in helping support those who are most vulnerable, from the physically disabled to the impoverished. During college, she traveled to El Paso, Texas, to build houses with the Habitat for Humanity program. She enjoys taking on the toughest sports imaginable, ones that combine discipline and perseverance, such as competing in triathlons, marathons, and relay races throughout the country with friends and family. In addition to traveling so she can participate in runs, Hoerth tries to do at least one international trip a year. Those destinations have included Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Peru, South Korea, Turkey, and many European countries. She loves to hike and do as many outdoor activities as possible while on vacation to really experience the destinations to their fullest.
