Waddell is an integral part of the AlfaTech team specializing in built environment design, project management, technology assessment, and consultation. She is a key developer of the high-performance building design studio offering for the company. Because of her background in architecture and engineering, she adds a technically versed and pragmatic architectural understanding of project sustainability to the firm. As a consultant on a broad range of projects within the built environment, Waddell contributes from her vast experience in climate-responsive mechanical engineering, energy master planning, building energy, and facades optimization. During her career as a mechanical design engineer, project manager, and consultant in San Francisco, New York City, and globally, she has sought out opportunities for design integration among various disciplines. She offers experience in using passive and active techniques to reduce energy and water consumption of projects and improve their internal environmental quality. Waddell is an expert in smart building technology, and recently presented on this topic as it relates to mechanical system design and local code requirements. Through these presentations, she has facilitated informative discussions on opportunities to improve current design practices and the future of the built environment. In addition to being actively involved with ASHRAE, Waddell enjoys mentoring young engineers, and has taught a building systems class to fourth-year architecture students at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Over the past 8 years, she has been learning the art of sailing. She also enjoys hiking and camping.
