Engineering Manager, Dynamix Engineering Ltd., Columbus, Ohio
Youngstown State University, BS Mechanical Engineering

Before becoming team leader of a group of design professionals for Dynamix Engineering Ltd. while still attending Youngstown State University, Kurt Fansler began his career as a CAD draftsman intern at Boston Retail Products. After graduating college at the age of 22, Fansler shifted direction into the consulting design industry where he developed his knowledge of fire protection, HVAC, and plumbing system design. Many of the design decisions Fansler is involved with include consideration for sustainability and energy efficiency. He currently leads a team of 12 individuals in the fields of fire protection, HVAC, plumbing, electrical design trades, and construction administration. Fansler regularly works with clients and designers to make decisions that not only consider initial project costs, but also analyze payback and energy benefits for the long-term life of a facility. As an integral part of the Dynamix team, Fansler provides training for products and standards, as well as promotes open discussions among the engineers on design decisions and specifications. In 2012 he obtained his health care facilities design professional certification through ASHRAE, becoming the 10th engineer in the state of Ohio to earn this certification. Fansler serves as a leader and mentor to other young engineers within the company to promote their efforts of sustainability and energy efficiency; they have worked on several U.S. Green Building Council LEED projects, including several that attained Gold certification. As Fansler continues to develop his leadership skills, he practices outside of work by coaching junior high students in football as well as peewee-level athletes in basketball, soccer, and baseball. Fansler and his wife are active parents raising three energetic boys.
