Principal, Metrix Engineers, Renton, Wash.
University of Washington, BS Mechanical Engineering

Josh Robischon founded Metrix Engineers in 2011 to create a consulting firm that maintains a focus on project quality. He became chief executive and co-founder of Metrix after a 12-year career as project manager and owner of Hargis Engineers. He has managed projects with mechanical construction costs ranging from $10,000 to $13 million while building on his knowledge of mechanical systems on a wide array of system type designs. Robischon has recently completed a $13 million chiller-less data center project for a client in which he provided systems cooling strategies that have significantly reduced the facility’s carbon footprint and decreased operational costs by more than 40%. Robischon and his team are working on a design that will save the Olympia Regional Learning Academy 60% more than the ASHRAE 90.1-2013 energy baseline building. To meet the net-zero design goal, he and his team are implementing strategies such as a hybrid ground loop with water heat pump and condensing boiler, low-temperature convection and displacement, ventilation, and innovative control strategies. Robischon serves as a member of six different professional organizations including Energy Star Partner, U.S. Green Building Council, and ASHRAE. To further progress his role in sustainability, Robischon signed up his firm to participate in the American Institute of Architects 2030 Commitment. He has given presentations to his architectural peers at the AIA Seattle and AIA Southwest Washington on “The Quest for Carbon Neutrality.” Robischon likes spending his free time traveling with his family and taking them on weekend camping trips. He also enjoys long bike rides and hopes to participate in the Seattle to Portland bike ride this year. In addition to cycling, Robischon loves to spend time on the golf course.
