People say that Jones sees the world through green-colored lenses. As director of sustainable services at the RMH Group, she is responsible for maintaining a focus on green design, staying abreast of relevant trends and technologies, and coordinating in-house training for sustainability. Jones has provided LEED services on more than 20 projects. Her commitment to green building led her to become a co-founder of the Sustainable Engineering Committee for the ASHRAE Rocky Mountain chapter, which works directly with the Colorado governor’s energy office to promote better building codes and organize hands-on events such as tree plantings. She is currently the treasurer of the Rocky Mountain chapter, and ASHRAE recognized her hard work by giving her the ASHRAE New Faces in Engineering Award in 2010. Jones is also a member of the education committee of USGBC’s Colorado chapter. Recently, Jones worked to upgrade a 500,000-sq-ft building in Denver that houses 11 federal agencies. The upgrades are projected to reduce energy use by 70% over the national average, and the building will rival the ultra-low energy consumption of newly constructed buildings. Another retrofit project by Jones was a 56-story, 1.5-million-sq-ft office building (the largest in the Rocky Mountain region, which earned LEED EB Gold). At the RMH office, Jones is well respected by her peers. She earned the company’s 2008 employee of the year award, and she is a regular presenter on the topics of sustainability, LEED, and energy modeling. She loves teaching, and she recently gave a two-part class on energy modeling for undergraduate architects at the University of Colorado-Denver. Jones is a sports fanatic; you can find her at the stadium whenever Denver teams are playing at home. She’s also an avid golfer and her Friday afternoons and Sundays are usually spent, fittingly, “on the green.”
