Jenny Leitch, PE, LEED AP, 32

Electrical Project Engineer, Staggs and Fisher Consulting Engineers Inc., Lexington, Ky.

University of Central Florida, BS Electrical Engineering

Leitch joined Staggs and Fisher soon after she moved from Florida to Kentucky, and the firm quickly recognized her technical skill and enthusiasm. She has strong fluency in computer programs; her changes to company spreadsheets have streamlined many processes, and she was asked to help develop company BIM standards and Revit protocols. Leitch is currently electrical engineer for the Eastern State Hospital project, a 239-bed, 300,000-sq-ft facility for inpatient psychiatric treatment and specialized service for brain injuries. She also helped design outdoor and indoor arenas for the Kentucky Horse Park, which recently hosted the World Equestrian Games, the largest sporting event in the United States since the 2002 Olympics. In 2009, she was selected to join the elite Leadership PE group, a Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers (KSPE) program for up-and-coming leaders, which accepts only 16 new members each year. She is also active in the KSPE as a member of the professional development committee, where she has helped diversify continuing education opportunities and attract more electrical and mechanical speakers to the KSPE annual conference. Leitch shares her enthusiasm about the field of engineering with a local high school, where she is often a guest speaker. She also participates at college fairs on behalf of Engineer Your Life, a program that educates young women about engineering careers. Outside of work, Leitch brings her energy to fundraising efforts like the MS150 bike ride and Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure, which benefit multiple sclerosis and breast cancer awareness, respectively. She spends her evenings and weekends at home with her husband, yellow Labrador, and two beautiful macaws. An avid snowboarder, she frequents everything from double black diamonds to terrain parks, and she takes a trip out West with her husband every other year to enjoy the slopes.
