When we enter the world of variable speed pumping, we must remember that all centrifugal pumps have some minimum allowable speed and flow rates. For proper operation of these systems, it is critical that we design the system - and specify the pump, motor, and drive equipment - with these considerations in mind. This webcast will guide you on a path to a greater understanding of the challenges in and solutions to the key issues involved with variable speed pumping and minimum flow requirements.

Participants will learn and/or understand:

  • Learn how to use pump control curves to determine what speed your pump will run BEFORE the installation
  • Understand how low flow and/or speed affects the pump, motor, and drive
  • Cite examples of specific applications, and considerations for each when using VFDs
  • Awareness of considerations for closed loop piping systems and open loop piping systems with high static head
