August 8, 2011

ASHRAE has provided a new research grant for seed funding. The purpose of the grant is to encourage out-of-the-box thinking for research deemed to improve start-of-the-art technology and design HVAC+R. This will reportedly complement research proposed and guided by ASHRAE’s technical committees.

The award has a base grant of $50,000 a year for two years with an additional $25,000 for a third year if matched by an industrial contributor. The due date for pre-proposals is Sept. 1, 2011. Inquiries are to be sent to Michael Vaughn.

The criteria for acceptance is based on: research innovation; the problem’s importance; potential for success; student involvement; and cost sharing. Further details can be found here.
