Integrated motors sales into the packaging industry are forecasted to continue growing after a 48.8% growth in 2010, according to a new study, The World Market for Integrated Motors, from IMS Research.

The majority of integrated motors are incorporated into new machine designs and, coupled with a 14.6% increase in global packaging machinery production in 2010, the integrated motors market significantly benefitted. The AC servo integrated motors market shows the most significant growth into packaging with a 79.1% increase in revenues for 2010 due to increased flexibility and the dynamic functionality of the motor.

Analyst Jenalea Howell states, “The flexibility allows companies to cut costs on wiring, installation labor, and maintenance. Users have reported up to 30% savings on installation labor costs.” Howell adds, “The flexibility of integrated motors also relates to the motor’s design and new offerings of motors with different drive placement configurations is allowing the market to penetrate applications where installation conditions are limited.”

Flexibility of the motor design is also driving sales of integrated motors into the material handling and food, beverage & tobacco industries due to needs for more modular machines. Together these three industries account for nearly 40% of the market for integrated motors in 2010 and are forecast to grow by an average 13.4% CAGR from 2010 to 2015.
