Great progress at UCSD Jacobs Medical Center

The US San Diego Jacobs Medical Center is continuing to make progress as the building begins to take shape.

The UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center is making great progress. After years of hard work from many Cannon designers, the building is taking shape.

Earlier this week I attended a topping out ceremony for the hospital and had a chance to see the curtainwall being installed. Virtually all of the exterior wall of the new tower is made of up of unitized glazed aluminum curtainwall. The interiors spaces will have very large glass vision areas that are almost floor-to-ceiling and are wall-to-wall. Most of the vision glazing will have white ceramic frit dots with varying patterns. The spandrel area will also be glass, most of which will echo the frit dot patterns.

If you’re interested in keeping up with the progress of the building, check out the Jacobs Medical Center webcams.
