Winners of the ninth annual Consulting-Specifying Engineer Product of the Year awards included products for critical power applications, top-notch fire and life safety technologies, and a host of cutting-edge techie gadgets.

A total of 112 products qualified as finalists for the 2013 Product of the Year award. We left the final say up to the readers. Here are the winners, starting with the Most Valuable Product and followed by the 30 individual winners for each of the ten sub-categories (see table below).

Arc-Resistant Front Accessible Switchgear, Eaton
Eaton’s arc-resistant switchgear is engineered to enhance operator safety, while the front-accessible design minimizes equipment footprint for utility, industrial, data center, institutional, hospital, and water and wastewater facilities. The front-accessible design enables the equipment to be installed against the wall. Eaton’s switchgear meets UL 1558 and ANSI C37.20.7 arc-resistant standards for personnel protection. Arc-resistant switchgear is engineered to protect personnel from dangerous arcing faults by redirecting or channeling the arc energy out the top of the gear. The switchgear is designed to protect the operator around the entire perimeter of the equipment.
