Weekly merger, acquisition, deal update: August 17
This week Morrissey Goodale tracked two domestic deals and three international transactions. This brings the total year-to-date deal count in the United States to 115, up 7% over the 107 domestic deals tracked through the same period in 2011. Including the U.S., the total global deal count is now 210, down just 2% from the 214 global deals tracked through the same period last year.

In its third transaction of the year, international architecture and interior design firm Perkins+Will (Chicago, IL) merged with Envision Design (Washington, DC), a 15-person award-winning design firm specializing in sustainability with experience that spans commercial interiors, residential, hospitality, and retail/entertainment, and featuring services that include interior design, renovations, base-building architecture, graphics and product design. The firm is widely recognized for its exceptional work for associations and nonprofits, including Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, Environmental Defense Fund, International Interior Design Association (IIDA), U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and the Recording Industry Association of America. Advanced information technology and engineering services firm RCM Technologies (Pennsauken, NJ) acquired BGA Engineering (Oakland, NJ), a 40-person multi-discipline provider of engineering services that include mechanical, electrical, instrumental and control, civil/structural, architectural, renewable energy and specialty related design across numerous industry sectors including power generation (both nuclear and fossil), energy delivery, energy management, architecture, commercial building and manufacturing. Global architecture, interior design and planning firm Kasian Architecture Interior Design and Planning (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) merged with HIP Architects (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), a design firm with a particular emphasis and focus placed on the commercial and retail, conservation, culture and recreation, industrial and medical sectors. Architectural and design firm HLN (Cardiff, United Kingdom) acquired John Pryke & Partners (Waltham Abbey, United Kingdom), a consulting firm specializing in structural and civil engineering, subsidence, architectural design and expert witness services, including forensic investigations and featuring a substantial client list in the public authority, banking, insurance and legal fields. In its second transaction of the year, engineering and surveying firm Fyfe Engineers & Surveyors (Adelaide, Australia) announced that it will join forces with Connor Holmes (Adelaide, Australia), a multi-disciplinary consulting firm specializing in the provision of advice in relation to town planning, property consulting, development management and governance and featuring clients that include a broad range of investors, corporations, not-for-profit organizations, property and land developers, together with state and local government agencies. Fyfe is a land and resource development consultancy specializing in the provision of comprehensive engineering, planning, and surveying services to Australia’s land development, energy, mining and oil and gas industries. The merged company will have a combined workforce of more than 420 people located in South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory. The merger will take effect on September 1, 2012.
