Webcast: Improving Electrical Efficiency Through PF Correction

How much do you really know about power factor and PF correction. Did you know that the electrical power a facility receives is made up of two components: real power and reactive power?

While real power performs useful work within a facility, reactive power does not. In fact, reactive power actually constitutes an energy loss and can consume capacity in transformers, generators, wiring, and transmission lines.

Power factor, a measure of electrical efficiency, compares the amount of real, or useful, power to the total power consumed. If power factor is not 100%, the facility is not operating at its highest efficiency and is probably paying penalty fees to utilities who charge for poor efficiency.
