USGBC Now Accepting Comments for LEED-NC Version 2.2
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is soliciting comments on the first draft of the LEED for New Construction Rating System (LEED-NC), version 2.2. The first public comment period will be open until Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at 5:00pm Pacific Standard Time.
The previous revision, 2.1, addressed only process and documentation issues and was not required to be balloted by the USGBC bylaws and LEED Foundations Document. Version 2.2, however, incorporates several changes to credits and does require balloting. The version 2.2 development process began over a year ago and is limited to revising existing credits within the current category structure.
The changes proposed in this version would not apply to projects registered under current versions of LEED-NC or those that register prior to the release of 2.2. Anyone can comment on this draft, provided that they register a site user profile on USGBC’s web site. USGBC will respond to all comments and post them, along with responses, to its site. A second public comment period will be held if changes are made to the draft after the first comment period, and the resulting draft would go to the USGBC membership for balloting.
The rating system is expected to be released publicly by fall of 2005. Click here for more information.
