Congratulations! Engineers recently earned the distinction of being the eighth most trustworthy professional, based upon an annual CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll.

With six in 10 Americans describing engineers’ ethical standards as “very high” or “high,” the profession’s ranking was only topped by firefighters, nurses, U.S. military, policeman, pharmacists, medical professionals and clergy.

Further, engineers have consistently been climbing the ranks of Gallup’s “honesty and ethics” poll, increasing a couple percentage points each year, from 46% in 1977 to 60% in 2001.
