Yijun “Melody” Wang, an intern with Cannon Design’s engineering team in Boston recently published the article, “The Computer In Engineering: Tool or Time Bomb,” which assesses engineers liability for failures resulting from computer-related errors. Wang is a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and has done some great work with Cannon Design and as part of her education. You may remember her previous post about the solar decathlon.

The article runs in the December edition of HPAC Engineering’s monthly Engineering Green Buildings electronic newsletter which is scheduled for broadcast, Dec. 18.

“Over the last few decades, engineers have become increasingly reliant on computer applications to avoid human error in the performance of complex calculations. Being overly dependent on computer programs may lead to errors itself and expose engineers to tremendous liability, however.”
