Take us out to the ballpark: Coca-Cola Field replacing sound system
Coca-Cola Field, home to the Buffalo Bisons, replaced their failing 25-year-old sound system with a more efficient 70 V distributed sound system.
The Buffalo Bisons, a AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays playing out of the International League, recently began work with Cannon Design’s Technology Services Group to design a replacement sound system for Coca-Cola Field. The firm’s Facility Optimization Services group identified the failing 25-year-old system as one in need of replacement. The single-point source system mounted at the scoreboard was unintelligible on windy days and created noise complaints from local residents and businesses up to two miles away.
Cannon Design’s team designed a 70 V distributed sound system with speakers located in the stands behind and above the listeners. Directional speakers and horns control the sound pattern and minimized unwanted noise outside of the stadium. The 70 V system utilizes speakers wired in parallel reducing the amount of conduit required. The team realized a 25% savings from the original proposal direct from the AV vendor by working through our Technology Services group.
