Preparing for the future of fire safety
A symposium--hosted by the Fire Protection Research Foundation--will gather industry leaders to glimpse the future direction of fire and life safety.
The Fire Protection Research Foundation (FPRF), a branch of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) , is hosting a symposium Nov. 17-18 in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the meeting is to help fire and life safety professionals plan for the next 25 years.
The 1.5-day symposium will include keynotes and panel discussions on a range of topics, including social and demographic context of fire protection, materials and technologies, and sustainability challenges. The roster of speakers includes James M. Shannon, NFPA president; Craig Beyler, PhD, chair of the International Association of Fire Safety Science; and Shere Abbot, director, Center for Science and Practice of Sustainability, University of Texas at Austin. The panels will include representatives from the NFPA, educational institutions, and fire and life safety associations.
