Enclosed disconnect switches are offered in fusible and non-fusible versions. The non-fused type can be used to comply with NEC Article 430, which requires a disconnect switch to be provided within 15 ft. of the sight of a motor to ensure a safe means of disconnection and lockout capability. Up to 400 amps, the fusible type disconnects both the line and load sides of the fuses using two double-breaking contacts per pole. This isolates the fuses in the “off” position by separating the fuse from applied voltage. (by Ferraz Shawmut) www.ferrazshawmut.com Input #1 at www.csemag.com/quick

Rack-based UPS is designed for high-powered blade servers and high-density computing environments. The scalable three-phase system is the latestin the manufacturer’s series of rack-based solutions. Users can expand an implementation from 12 kW to 60 kW in a single 19-in. enclosure by plugging in additional parallel modules. (BladeUPS by Eaton Powerware) www.powerware.com #2

Cascading sequencer enhancement to boiler series is now standard on 1.5 million- to 2 million-BTU models. The device eliminates the cost and set-up requirements of a separate third-party sequencer for installations of up to eight units. The internal sequencer simplifies creation of a cascading “lead/lag” system, in which the lead boiler or water heater controls the rotating operation and firing rate of up to seven additional units. Load indicators are designed to work seamlessly with patented capacitive sensors. The products provide several key features that are intended to make it easy for users to build a load measurement system. The units accepts input from up to four load sensors and digitizeanalog signals using 21-bit ADCs. They automatically sums loads from all connected sensors and lets users “tare” values from a set pre-load. (DS2100 by Loadstar) www.loadstarsensors.com #7

Emergency lighting control allows users to leverage the use of occupancy sensors and time-scheduled systems by having devices control emergency lighting in tandem with non-emergency lighting. Wiring options accommodate a variety of control needs and input for remote control. An integral test button facilitates testing required by codes. (ELCU-100 by Watt Stopper) www.wattstopper.com #8

Airflow monitoring station is suited to HVAC applications where flow verification is required for proper balancing, improving air quality and controlling industrial process. The system uses multiple pressure taps located on the fan inlet venture to accurately measure flow without the pressure drop and efficiencyloss associated with traditional flow probe monitors.
