When completed, a project in New Mexico that links distributed-generation assets—including standby generators—will provide 25 MW of “dispatchable” peaking power to Public Service Company of New Mexico.
Industrial and commercial concerns with standby generators will join a network, put together by Portland, Ore.-based Celerity Energy that uses processor-based controls and paralleling switchgear. A network from Sixth Dimension, Ft. Collins, Colo., will dispatch and control the generators.
Phase-in of the project was set for spring, with final units to be completed in time for the summer peak. The project was awarded the Joint Industry and Government Pollution Prevention Award from the city of Albuquerque and the New Mexico Facility Manager Network. According to the companies, the project may be increased to 75 MW in the near future.
