The 2002 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) has just recently been issued by the Standards Council of the National Fire Protection Association. According to the NFPA, this latest release includes over 300 changes to the 1999 edition.
This, the 49th edition of the NEC, went into effect on August 3, 2001. In all, five new articles distinguish it from the last issue: administrative provisions; transient voltage surge suppression; sensitive electronic equipment; fuel cells; and receptacles, cord connectors and attachment plugs.
Modifications also position the code for international adoption. For example, the metric system is placed in front of the english system of measurement.
