GE Digital Energy has upgraded its motor protection system to include remote resistance thermal detector (RTD) support, embedded IEC 61850 communications, enhanced security features, and ambient temperature monitoring and alarming. Programmable logic allows users to create custom control applications, establish alarm set points, and define allowable upper limits. The system can monitor up to 12 RTDs without the need for point-to-point wiring and auxiliary devices.
