Motors using die-cast copper rotors reduce electric energy losses by 15% to 23% compared with those using identical aluminum rotors, according to research conducted by the Copper Development Association and funded by several manufacturers and the U.S. Department of Energy. Currently, aluminum rotors are the industry standard.
