More on the Upcoming 2006 AHR Expo

AHR Expo 2006, which billed itself as the world’s largest trade show for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, will take place from Jan. 23 through 25 at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention center.

With more than 1,800 exhibitors, both national and international, in more than 375,000 net sq. ft. of exhibit space, co-sponsors ASHRAE and the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) estimate 55,000 total attendees.

With about one month to go until show time, all indicators are pointing to a strong international presence. As of Dec. 5, 16% of visitors registered were from outside the United States. And show management expects several thousand international attendees from more than 110 countries.

AHR Expo Innovation Awards

Designed to promote and encourage product innovation by recognizing exceptional achievements in the HVAC&R industries, winners of the nine categories will be presented with awards at a special ceremony during the 2006 AHR Expo.The Innovation Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday at

11:45 a.m. in the New Product Technology Theater B in the South Hall. Entry fee proceeds will be donated to an HVAC&R scholarship fund at a Chicago area vocational school.

Seminars, Demonstrations and Celebrations

Among the many educational opportunities provided at AHR Expo, one recently announced offering comes from LonMark International, San Jose, Calif., which will share its expertise on specifying, deploying and maintaining open, interoperable solutions with attendees. Visitors will see a live demonstrations of open, interoperable products from industry suppliers. The demonstration will include numerous Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and head-ends connected to off-the-shelf products from multiple suppliers.

Berner International ( www.berner.com ), maker of an in-ceiling mount air curtain, is using the Expo to celebrate its 50th anniversary and plans to commemorate this occasion by featuring a host of exciting, new products. The company will also be launching “BernerUniversity,” an online resource, available on their website, dedicated to providing comprehensive information about the air door industry, including tools to help architects and engineers evaluate air door needs for specific applications.
