We’ve already described many of the useful tools and resources on the newly redesigned csemag.com website: organization into easily searched communities, the editor-in-chief’s blog, intended as a forum for the entire M/E/P engineering community to express opinions and offer comments on any type of professional issue. After all, CSE magazine has always called itself the “Voice of the Professional M/E/P Engineer,” and we have always considered our publications—in print and electronic—to be peer-to-peer, that is, by and for engineers.

Now, here are a few more items to be aware of: Soon to appear on the website will be a blog by David Sellers, P.E., senior engineer, Facility Dynamics Engineering, Portland, Ore. Sellers is a mechanical engineer who specializes in commissioning of engineered building systems (see his story in this issue, “A Mechanical Engineer’s Perspective on Electrical System Commissioning.”) He will be one of our regular bloggers, with many others to come, covering a wide range of topics.

“If you go out and operate a building for a while, you will soon discover that human physiology and psychology are inextricably interwoven with the design, construction, commissioning and operation of its HVAC,” Sellers writes in his inaugural blog. “At their most fundamental level, HVAC systems are real time science experiments in applied physics; hardware moves, fluids flow, temperatures and pressures change, and occasionally, things fail to work as intended or simply fail. But, interestingly enough, HVAC systems are also real time experiments in physiology and psychology.”

So catch his blog regularly—and add to it.
