Recent hires and promotions

Franklin Park, Ill.-based Sloan Valve Co . appointed Ted Garcia as director of international business.

Ann Arbor, Mich.-based HDR Inc . has promoted Samuel R. Barnes, PE, to vice president-director of engineering. Barnes will be responsible for coordinating all engineering and design sections in the Ann Arbor area.

Several new employees joined the Madison, Wis.-based Mead & Hunt engineering firm. Michael Witiw, PE , joined the aviation team as a project manager and he will be responsible for aviation projects from planning through civil design and construction administration. Zachary Puchacz joined the aviation team as an airport planner and he will be involved in researching aviation-related issues and developing activity forecasts. Dustin Wolff joined the team as project planner working with the transportation team and he will conduct transportation corridor studies and author environmental documents. Mark Zander, PE , joined the transportation team as transportation project engineer and he will be involved in the design and construction related to highway and bridge projects. Daniel Gormley, AIA , joined the architecture and building engineering team as a project manager. Doreen Dazenski, LEED AP , joined the team as an architectural-civil CAD technician for the architecture and building engineering team and she will be responsible for preparing architectural and engineering documents.

Rick DeCesar, PhD ., joined Alpharetta, Ga.,-based MACTEC as senior principal/project manager.

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Board of Directors selected Mark Johnson as ES president, following the announcement of John Nosse’s Jan. 2010 retirement. Johnson assumed ES president duties on April 1.

Washington, D.C.,-based Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), announced that Lisa Washington will assume the role of executive director due to the retirement of current DBIA president and CEO Lee Evey . As of June 2009, Washington will serve as chief executive and will be accountable to the DBIA board of directors.

Madison, Wis.,-based Affiliated Engineers Inc . (AEI) announced the opening of a new office in Minneapolis, Minn. AEI also announced that Rolf Rogers, Stuart Innes , and Robert Green have joined the firm. Rogers was named director of business development. Innes was named manager of project control and Green was name manager project engineering.
