Walter T. Marlowe, P.E., CAE , has been appointed executive director and chief executive officer of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), Alexandria, Va. Marlowe has 16 years of experience in the industry, and has served in staff leadership roles at the American Society of Civil Engineers and National Society of Professional Engineers, including as director of professional practice, international activities and technical activities; and as executive director of Building Security Council.

BSA LifeStructures , Indianapolis, hired Tom Brolsma and Tyler Smith as marketing coordinators. Brolsma has nine years of marketing experience and Smith brings five years of experience to the A/E firm.

Cannon Design named Deborah L. Pease and Jerome F. Bobak, P.E., LEED AP , associate vice presidents. Pease has more than 28 years of experience as an architect and project manager. Bobak has more than 22 years of experience in mechanical systems. He is involved with the design of HVAC systems for corporate, educational and health care facilities. His most recent project is a 170,000 sq. ft. renovation and addition to the Stony Brook University Medical Center at State University of New York College at Buffalo.

Newcomb & Boyd , Atlanta, announced new promotions and licensures. Stephen R. Wiggins was named associate partner in the firm. C. Donald Latham, Jr., RCDD, CPP ; James D. Stephney, III, P.E.; C . Walter Tanner, CIPE ; and Justin L. Ziegler, P.E , have been named Senior Associates. The firm promoted to associate : Jonathan A. Bair , Joshua J. Brisbane , Philip W. Bumgarner , PE; Matthew B. Eason , Van Johnson , Michael J. Lodge , Kasey P. Mitchell , Julia C. Neville , LC; and R. Max Shirley , RCDD, CTS . Newcomb & Boyd also announced the licensures of Jason M. Conner , P.E.; Steven L. Tonker , LC; and Josef H. Henschen , CTS. Richard O. Dozier has become a LEED AP.

TVGA Consultants , Elma, N.Y., celebrates its 90thanniversary this year. The company was founded in 1917, under the name Cudall, Powell & Mosher. The firm took its present name in 2002.

Google Inc. has chosen William McDonough , Charlottesville, Va., to create preliminary designs of Google’s offices at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., two sources close to the deal said. Kyle Copas, a spokesman for William McDonough + Partners, said his company does have a project with Google, but declined to say if it includes the NASA Ames project, which requires approval from NASA before any groundbreaking. This assignment shows Google’s intentions to go green at the facility, which could be as large as 1 million sq. ft. of office space.

Thorton Tomasetti , New York, announced the opening of a London office, under the name Thorton Tomasetti Postawa de Hoog. This name comes from the firm’s recent alliance with London-based structural engineers Les Postawa and Tanya de Hoog.
